The cheapest way to add solar to a power station is rigid glass panels, not the folding ones sold next to it. A 4 pack of Callsun 100 W rigid panels is about $250 for 400 W, $0.62 a watt. Folding panels, including Callsun's own 110 W, run $1.09 a watt and up.

FOSSiBOT F1800
1,024 Wh battery
Check price at FOSSiBOTPaid link
400 W of panels on a 4 sun-hour day puts back about 1,200 Wh, enough to refill a 1 kWh station every day. Pair that 4 pack with the FOSSiBOT F1800 and you have a 1,024 Wh LiFePO4 solar generator for about $649 total.
The catch: rigid panels are heavy, need somewhere to sit and come with MC4 plugs, so you need an adapter cable for your station. If you can live with that, you get the same watts for about 40 percent less.

Cost per watt, rigid vs folding
Callsun 100 W rigid, 4 pack: about $250 for 400 W, $0.62 a watt. Callsun 200 W bifacial: $162 single, $320 for two, $630 for four, $0.79 to $0.81 a watt. Callsun 110 W folding: $120, $1.09 a watt.
Rigid panels win on price and durability, with IP68 tempered glass rated for 5,400 Pa of snow load and a 25-year output guarantee. Folding panels win when you carry them: a 110 W folder packs into a bag, a 200 W rigid panel is 51 x 30 in and 23.8 lb.
For a house, a cabin or an RV roof where the panels stay put, buy rigid. For camping where every pound counts, buy folding.

Match the panels to your station
Daily Wh back = panel watts x sun hours x 0.75. The 0.75 covers heat, angle and charging losses. Most of the US gets 4 to 5 sun hours in summer and 2.5 to 3 in winter.
Buy panel watts up to your station's solar input limit, not past it. Watts above the limit are wasted. These kits use stations we already cover.
500 W input (FOSSiBOT F1800, BLUETTI AC180): the 400 W kit, about 1,200 Wh a day. 1,000 W input (BLUETTI Elite 200 V2, EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max): the 800 W kit, about 2,400 Wh a day. 2,000 W input (FOSSiBOT F3600 Pro): 1,600 W of panels, about 4,800 Wh a day, which refills its 3,840 Wh battery in one sunny day.

Plugs and voltage: the two things that trip people up
Rigid panels ship with MC4 connectors. Most power stations take XT60, Anderson or a DC7909 barrel. Buy an MC4 adapter cable that matches your station's solar port before the panels arrive.
Wiring panels in series adds their voltage. Wiring in parallel adds their current. Every station lists a solar input voltage range and a max current. Add up the open-circuit voltage (Voc, printed on each panel's label) of the panels in series and keep it under the station's max, with margin for cold mornings, when Voc rises.
If series would go over the voltage limit, wire two strings in parallel with a Y branch connector. Current over the limit is simply capped by most stations, but voltage over the limit can damage the input.
Cheaper still: a DIY battery
A Callsun 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery is 1,280 Wh for about $300, $0.23 per Wh. The cheapest power station in our database is about $0.31 per Wh. The difference is that a bare battery needs a charge controller and an inverter, sold separately, and wiring you do yourself.
For an RV, shed or cabin where you are building a 12V system anyway, the bare battery is the cheapest storage you can buy. For a plug-and-go outage box, buy the power station.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use any solar panel with a portable power station?
Yes, if the voltage and plug match. Keep the total open-circuit voltage of panels in series under the station's max solar input voltage, and use an MC4 adapter cable for your station's port (XT60, Anderson or DC7909).
How many solar panels do I need to charge a power station in one day?
Divide the battery Wh by sun hours x 0.75. A 1,024 Wh station at 4 sun hours needs about 340 W, so 400 W of panels. A 2 kWh station needs about 700 W, so 800 W.
Are rigid solar panels cheaper than portable ones?
Yes, by about 40 percent per watt. Callsun's rigid 100 W panels are $0.62 a watt in a 4 pack, while its folding 110 W panel is $1.09 a watt. Rigid panels are heavier and need a place to sit.
How much does a 400 W solar panel setup produce per day?
About 1,200 Wh on a 4 sun-hour day after heat and charging losses, and about 750 Wh on a 2.5 sun-hour winter day.
How long does it take solar panels to charge a power station?
Divide the battery's watt-hours by panel watts x 0.75. A 1,024 Wh station on 400 W of panels takes about 1,024 / 300 = 3.4 hours of full sun. A 2,074 Wh station on 800 W takes about 3.5 hours, as long as the panel watts stay under the station's solar input limit.
Should I wire solar panels in series or parallel for a power station?
Series if the total voltage stays under the station's max solar input voltage, parallel if it would not. Series adds the panels' voltage and parallel adds their current. Add up the open-circuit voltage (Voc) on each panel's label and leave margin for cold weather, since the NEC 690.7 correction factors raise Voc by roughly 10 to 25 percent depending on how cold your site gets.
Can I connect more solar watts than my power station's input rating?
You can, but watts above the limit are wasted, because the station only draws up to its rated solar input. What you must never exceed is the input voltage limit, which can damage the port. Extra current is simply capped by most stations. A small oversize can keep the input closer to its limit on hazy or winter days, when panels make less than their rating.
How long do rigid solar panels last?
Decades. The Callsun rigid panels here carry a 25-year output guarantee, IP68 tempered glass and a 5,400 Pa snow load rating. A 25-year output guarantee means the maker promises a minimum share of rated output over that time, so check the percentage on the warranty sheet.
Is a 12V LiFePO4 battery cheaper than a power station?
Per watt-hour, yes. The Callsun 12V 100Ah battery stores 1,280 Wh for about a quarter less per watt-hour than the cheapest complete power station in our database. A bare battery needs a separate charge controller, an inverter and wiring you do yourself, so it suits an RV, shed or cabin 12V system, not a plug-and-go outage box.
Are bifacial solar panels worth it for a power station?
They help when the back of the panel can see reflected light, such as over a light roof, concrete, sand or snow. The Callsun 200 W bifacial panels also have split cells that tolerate partial shade better. The extra output depends on the surface behind them, so size the system on the front rating and treat any rear gain as a bonus.
