Crunch Your Dollars - Free Personal Finance Calculators

About CrunchYourDollars

CrunchYourDollars started with a simple frustration: every time I needed to run the numbers on a financial decision, the "free" calculators online were either buried behind email sign-up walls, loaded with ads that made them unusable, or gave results without explaining the math.

I'm a software engineer by trade, not a financial advisor. But I've spent years figuring out my own finances - paying off debt, comparing insurance options, deciding whether to rent or buy, building savings. Every time I built a spreadsheet to work through a decision, I thought: this should just exist as a free tool that anyone can use.

So I built it. CrunchYourDollars is a collection of free, no-sign-up financial calculators and educational guides covering the money decisions that actually matter to regular people. Debt payoff strategies, mortgage math, insurance coverage, savings goals, and more.

What makes this site different

  • Actually free. No email required, no accounts to create, no premium tier. Every calculator works completely for free, every time.
  • No fluff. The blog posts and guides are written to be useful, not to hit a word count. If something can be explained in 500 words, it gets 500 words.
  • Built by an engineer. The calculators use real math, not simplified estimates. When a debt payoff calculator says you'll save $2,400 in interest, that number is based on actual amortization calculations, not a rough guess.
  • Transparent about money. This site earns revenue through affiliate links to financial products. These links are always clearly marked, and they never influence the calculator results or the advice in our guides.

What you'll find here

10 free calculators covering debt payoff, mortgage payoff, savings goals, emergency funds, rent vs. buy analysis, net worth tracking, and life, auto, home, and health insurance. Each one walks you through the inputs step by step and explains the results.

30+ blog posts on budgeting, debt management, credit scores, investing basics, taxes, insurance, and homeownership. Written in plain language for people who want practical advice, not jargon.

A note on financial advice

Everything on this site is for informational and educational purposes only. I'm not a certified financial planner, and nothing here should be taken as personalized financial advice. The calculators give you estimates based on the numbers you provide - they're a starting point for making informed decisions, not the final word. For major financial decisions, it's always smart to consult with a qualified financial professional who understands your specific situation.
